A God In Ruins by Kate Atkinson
WHY A BOOK CAN BE SO MUCH MORE THAN A BOOK
Okay I love Kate Atkinson. She’s a stonkingly great writer and from when I read Behind The Scenes of the Museum *years* ago through to her books I’ve read much more recently, I’ve come away always feeling as though I’ve had an incredibly readerly experience.
Kate is one of my favourite authors and this is one of my favourites of her novels. But, what I particularly love about her books — and this one — is that it was recommended to me by my dad. It was my dad who told me I had to read anything and everything she’d written. He loves her writing and so do I — and I love that we share that!
So much so, that I haven’t actually read the stunning proof of her newest book — Shrines of Gaiety. Why? Because I gave it to my dad first, obviously. 💙
