Anxious People by Fredrik Backman

Whilst we each favour different genres, both of us have a rebellious streak and tend to avoid books that are hugely hyped. Perhaps this stems from a fear of disappointment, or just a desire to move off the beaten (book) track. 

We were kindly sent a copy by the lovely people at Michael Joseph and gave it a go. We hadnt read any of Backman’s previous work and were not sold on the plot so we didn’t know what to expect. 

All we can say is, we were completely hooked. This book was number 2 on the Goodreads Choice Fiction Awards and with damn good reason — it made us laugh, it made us cry, it made us think. It is about life today, relationships, struggles and compassion. It will give something important to everyone who reads it and we are just so utterly glad that we did.
